The Tuxpan II Energy Project is a 495-megawatt (MW), natural gas combined-cycle electric generating station located near Túxpan de Rodríguez Cano, Veracruz, México. Tuxpan II consists of two Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) 501F gas turbine generators, two heat recovery steam generators and one MHPS steam turbine generator.

Tuxpan II was invested in by Kyushu Electric Power and Mitsubishi Corporation. Mexico’s Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) provides natural gas (or diesel) for the generation of electricity via highly fuel-efficient environmental friendly combined cycle technology. This electricity is then sold back to the CFE under a 25-year power purchase agreement.

This project represents the first instance of an overseas power generation project in which Japanese enterprises took a central role. In addition to the investments by Kyushu Electric Power and Mitsubishi Corporation, financing was provided primarily by JBIC and overseas Japanese commercial banks.

DGC México has a prominent role in commercial and administration matters, providing asset management including PPA execution and financing for Tuxpan II.
