EES Wind Project

Oaxaca, México

The Energía Eólica del Sur S.A.P.I. de C.V. (EES) is a 396-megawatt (MW) wind project with the 132 wind turbines of 3MW each, distributed in two sites which cover an area of 5,400 ha (affected are of 100 ha) in the municipalities of El Espinal and Juchitán, in México’s Oaxaca state. EES supplies energy to Fomento Económico Mexicano, S.A.B. de C.V. (FEMSA), Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Heineken México and Crown México under the self-supply legal framework.


The financing was granted jointly with Banobras, Kredit Fonden Eksport (EKF) Danish export credit agency, and Nacional Financiera (NAFIN) which provides financing for the VAT credit.
